Despite Samsung attempting to keep the Galaxy S8 under wraps, the upcoming device is seeing more and more leaks and rumors every week. The latest rumor is in regards to the AI personal assistant which will be present on the new device.
Previously, we saw that Samsung filed trademarks under the name of “Bixby” which was described as being used for “computer software for personal information management” and “software used to operate voice recognition system enabling hands-free use through voice recognition.” Now, it seems that Samsung will be creating a female version of the personal assistant by the name of “Kestra”.
Furthermore, SamMobile is reporting that Samsung is working on creating a mobile payment system that will work with the new personal assistant. The name of the project is “Bixby Pay” and would allow users to process payments using voice commands, versus needing to navigate through the Samsung Pay application.
We are expecting to see the Galaxy S8 unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2017, and may include a pressure sensitive display. The device is also expected to not include a home button with Samsung opting to use an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Additionally, there may be a larger version of the device dubbed the Galaxy S8 Plus which will feature a 6.3-inch bezel-less display.
