Niantic is increasing the Pokemon population in rural areas for Pokemon GO

0

For those living in big metropolises or even just semi-notable cities, Pokemon GO has been a blast. PokeStops are aplenty, there are many gyms to challenge, and there are a lot of great players to meet.

For those in the less exciting rural areas — like yours truly — it’s been a big bummer. I can’t even see a PokeStop or PokeGym on my map, and getting to the closest one is at least an hour of walking.

And while I would be content with just catching and evolving Pokemon I find in the wild, they don’t even turn up all that often out here. (And when they do, I’d be lucky to have enough PokeBalls to catch them as I sure as hell won’t be walking an hour to get freebies at a PokeStop).

Well, hopefully, it’ll suck a little less from now on. Niantic has issued a PSA to trainers in these locations that the population of Pokemon seems to have increased, so you should be able to find the critters a fair distance from your house instead of having to head out into the city.

Of course, that doesn’t solve the issue of not having anything to do with the Pokemon, but baby steps, folks. Baby steps.
