The Galaxy Note 8 is rumored to feature dual-rear cameras to combat the iPhone 7 Plus

Earlier this week, we saw what was being touted as a prototype of the Galaxy S8 which featured dual-rear cameras. Due to various reasons, Samsung opted to hold off on implementing these into the final version, leaving us wondering when and if Samsung would opt for new camera sensors.

That has led us to the Galaxy Note 8, which seems to be Samsung’s testing ground for flagship devices, for better or worse. A new report claims that the upcoming Note device will feature a 12MP wide-angle lens, and a 13MP telephoto lens, with both offering Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

The big reason for Samsung to push the limits of the Note 8’s camera capabilities is to hopefully overtake the likes of the iPhone 7 Plus. Which, despite not being rated by DxOMark yet, is touted as the best camera on the market other than the Pixel/Pixel XL.

For some background, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge did not feature USB Type-C, but it was found in the now-defunct Galaxy Note 7. Additionally, the Note 7 also included the new facial recognition software, which was then implemented into the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.

We’re still a few months away from the official announcement of the Galaxy Note 8. But one thing we can be sure of is the fact that now the Galaxy S8 is launched, we’ll be seeing leaks and rumors coming out of the woodworks ahead of the Note 8’s announcement.
