Just about every Android device launched today is running some type of skin over top. Xiaomi is one of these company’s that is one of the worst offenders as MIUI looks more like iOS than Android. Recently, the company rolled out MIUI 8.2 to devices, but a new leak shows Xiaomi may be looking to add some Android O features to MIUI 9.
According to an email which was sent to app developers, Xiaomi is looking to add picture-in-picture its latest version of MIUI. This is one of the biggest features planned to come to Android O once the software is launched later this year.

Another rumored feature for MIUI 9 is a proper split-screen mode, which has already been launched in Android Nougat. However, what makes this special is that Xiaomi could be looking to implement this feature for devices that are stuck running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
We aren’t exactly sure of a firm release date for MIUI 9, but Xiaomi has already confirmed plans to launch the software update in the “second half of the year”. So now it’s just a waiting game to see what Xiaomi plans to do for its numerous customers.
