The HTC U11 is official, which means the HTC 10 is now officially outdated. The tech world moves fast. Math tells us that 11 is greater than 10, but is that really the case with this phone? Did HTC do enough to get HTC 10 owners to upgrade to the U11? Check out our handy chart below to see the two devices side by side.
These two phones are similar in a lot of ways, but there are a few key differences. The biggest change is the screen size. HTC went from a 5.2-inch display to a 5.5-inch-inch display. And HTC didn’t make the bezels any smaller, which means the U11 is definitely a bigger phone. Resolution is the same.
The processor is the next big difference. HTC skipped from the Snapdragon 820 to the brand new Snapdragon 835. RAM and storage are about the same, but you can opt for more RAM. The improved processor should mean better performance, but that isn’t always the case. We’ll have to see how it performs in the real world.
The other specs are pretty much the same. You get the same size camera on the rear with a big improvement on the front. Battery size is the same. Water resistance is a much welcomed feature (I killed my HTC 10 in a pool). One thing that didn’t get brought over from the 10 is the headphone jack, which will disappoint a lot of people.
So, is the HTC U11 worth the upgrade? It depends on how much you value the extra screen real estate and performance improvements. Those are big upgrades for some people, but others won’t care as much. The headphone jack is another thing some people might not care about. Do you have the HTC 10? Will you be upgrading?
