Huawei Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus go official with dual cameras and flagship flair

Huawei’s mid-range Nova series is getting buffed with the launch of 2 new phones today. MEet the Huawei Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus.

These two have a striking flagship-like design and dual-rear cameras that immediately draw our attention. Those are 12MP and 8MP sensors, respectively, with the secondary sensor’s job being to facilitate “optical” zoom.

Inside its metal chassis is a Kirin 659 chipset, which delivers octa-core performance. Both phones also feature 4GB of RAM, a 20MP front camera, and LTE radios.

Where they differ are in storage capacities, display size, and battery size. Those numbers come in at 64GB, 5 inches, and 2,950mAh for the Nova 2, while the Nova 2 Plus gets jumps to 128GB, 5.5 inches, and 3,340mAh. Both displays fire pixels at the same 1080p resolution.

The devices start at around $365 when converted from the Chinese Yen, which doesn’t sound like a bad bargain for — chipset aside — what would mostly amount to a flagship phone. It’ll be on sale June 16th.
