Earlier this month we learned that Legendary Pokemon would finally be coming to Pokemon Go, but it seems that Niantic has even more plans in store for this Summer. The game is coming up on its one-year anniversary, and its developers are gearing up for “Pokemon Go Fest” which is the “first live Pokemon go event organized by Niantic”.
In addition to detailing what the event will hold, Niantic also shared the fact that Pokemon Go has been downloaded more than 750 million times in its first year. The game took the world by storm last summer, pushing many of us to get off the couch and become the Pokemon trainer that we always wanted to be. The popularity has definitely died off a bit, but there are still many folks enjoying the game.
As for the event, the Pokemon Go Fest will take place in Chicago on July 22nd, where Pokemon Go trainers will be able to meet other trainers and “engage in a variety of activities”. However, before that event, the first big Pokemon Go event will get under way tomorrow, June 13th, and is called Solstice Event. During this event, you can expect to see more Fire and Ice-type Pokemon pop up in your travels. These include the likes of Charmander, Cynadquil, Sneasel, and more.
Let us know in the comments whether you’re still playing Pokemon Go, or if you’ve moved on to other options to occupy your time.
