We’re now t-minus 20 days until the Samsung makes the Galaxy Note 8 official. Like most every other device these days — especially one as high profile and crucially important as the Note 8 — leaks have been slowly trickling out onto the internet. After we got a few good looks at the design of the phone thanks to leaked renders, it’s time to focus on the device’s internal hardware.
Once again, Evan Blass (@evleaks) is passing along some of his insider knowledge, confirming many of the specs that were being whispered, while debunking a few others. According to his sources, the Galaxy Note 8 will come with IP68 water/dust resistance (no real surprise there). The screen size will measure in at 6.3-inches — just a hair bigger than the Galaxy S8+ — with the same 1440 x 2960 resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Physical dimensions? 162.5mm x 74.6mm, and 8.5mm thick.
For the processor, Samsung will be using the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 here in the US, while global versions will be carrying the Exynos 8895 (for better or worse). All models will have 64GB of internal storage along with a micro SD card slot to expand this further, and 6GB of RAM — a nice improvement over the Galaxy S8’s 4GB.
The real fun comes by way of the Galaxy Note 8’s new dual-camera setup. Both cameras feature 12MP sensors and OIS, with the primary camera featuring a wide angle f/1.7 lens and dual-pixel autofocus, and the second featuring a telephoto f/2.4 aperture lens with 2X optical zoom.
The Galaxy Note 8 will also come equipped with a 3,300mAh battery and Samsung’s fast charging tech over USB C. You can expect a price point of around €1,000 when it begins shipping in September and will come in Midnight Black, Maple Gold, Orchid Grey, and Deep Sea Blue.
