Instagram is about to take a big step toward Facebook territory with a simple feature that everyone is sure to love. Rolling out to some users starting today, comment threads are now officially making their way to the app.
They work the same way they do just about anywhere else, with replies appearing directly under someone’s comment — not at the very bottom. It should help clean up even the most popular Instagram post, and help provide much needed context when viewing someone’s reply.
All we have to say is it’s about damn time and while this could be seen as yet another way Instagram is taking a lead on Snapchat — which doesn’t even give users the ability to leave public comments — but maybe that’s actually for the best and one of the reasons why they added 7 million new users last quarter.
So when you can you expect to see threaded comments? Well, Instagram says they started hitting a few users today, but will roll out globally over the next few weeks. So keep an eye out.
