Oreo a no-show on September’s Android distribution numbers

Google has released the September Android distribution numbers and Nougat continues to grow, but the recently released Android 8.0 Oreo has yet to make an appearance. That means the collective install base for the Oreo update is less than 0.1% at this time.

Marshmallow’s distribution remains relatively unchanged, while Nougat saw a 2.3% increase over last month’s 13.5%. That accounts for both 7.0 and 7.1 versions. Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich are still hanging on more than seven years after release.

It’s not uncommon for new Android releases to take a while to show up since only a small percentage of phones get the update within the first month. New OS releases aren’t without their issues either, as some Oreo users are reporting problems with their mobile data cutting off prematurely and Bluetooth connection problems for vehicles.

If you’ve already gotten the Android Oreo update on your device, have you experienced any issues with it?
