The Google Home “Max” is rumored to feature stereo speakers and a premium design

Well, this is awkward. Amazon JUST announced its latest lineup of Echo devices, including the all-new Echo, the Echo Plus, Echo Spot, and more as the company updates its smart speaker lineup. But a new leak suggests that Google is working on a “beefier” model of the Google Home which may or may not be unveiled at the October 4th Pixel event.

According to sources speaking with 9to5Google, the Google Home ‘Max’ will be a bit larger than the current Google Home. The new smart speaker is said to feature stereo speakers, and will be “premium in both design and materials”, but the “Max” moniker is likely to change before any official announcement is made.

While the biggest smartphones remaining to be unveiled are the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, Google could definitely make another splash with an updated Google Home model. We already have a pretty good idea that an Amazon Echo Dot competitor is in the works, thanks to some well-placed leaks that were revealed last week. However, this would likely take on the new Echo Plus and Apple HomePod if the rumors are true.

We don’t have an idea as to what the Google Home ‘Max’ would be priced at, but we can imagine it would be higher than the $129 price point of the current Google Home. We’ll have to keep our eyes peeled and hope to hear something more substantial at the Pixel 2 event.

Be sure to let us know what you think about this leak, and if you would be interested in snagging a larger Google Home with a better speaker system.
