If you are a cord-cutter, YouTube TV has likely been on your radar for the last few months after it was officially introduced back in February. However, the service had some limitations as it was not available in all markets at launch, and the official application has slowly been rolling out to more devices.
While YouTube TV is now available on the likes of tablets, Android TV, and other options, there are still others such as Roku and Apple TV devices that don’t have access to the YouTube TV app just yet. It seems that Google will be missing its prediction of bringing the app to these devices in 2017, as a YouTube representative confirmed.
According to CNET, the YouTube TV app won’t be coming to Roku or Apple TV devices until the first quarter of 2018. This is a bit of a disappointment, but there is some good news for other folks as the app will be coming to “older smart TVs, namely Samsung sets from 2014 and 2015, and Sony TVs that use the older Linux-based operating system” in the same time frame.
For those who are unaware, YouTube TV launched in February 2018 and is priced at just $35 per month while offering over 40 different TV stations, as well as Cloud DVR with no storage limits, and up to 6 accounts per household. The lineup of channels includes popular options such as ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, and ESPN, as well as a few exclusive channels such as CBS Sports, The CW, and Universal.
