Geekbench results confirm the Galaxy S9 Plus will have 6GB of RAM and Oreo in-tow

0

Over the past few weeks, we have been seeing a lot of information shared about the Samsung Galaxy S9, but details regarding the larger Galaxy S9 Plus have been rather scarce. That has all changed as it seems that the device has been found on Geekbench with the model number of SM-G965U1.

The benchmark results show that the device will be powered by a Qualcomm chipset, which presumably will be the Snapdragon 845, as that’s the latest and greatest offering. The results also show that this device has 5GB of RAM, which is a bit odd, but when you consider that rumors are pointing to the S9 Plus featuring either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, this is likely just an internal error on Geekbench’s side.

The final piece of information shared regarding the Galaxy S9 Plus is that Android 8.0 Oreo will be onboard when the device launches. This comes as no surprise considering the fact that Samsung has been testing Oreo on the Galaxy S8 lineup for a few months now, and it would make no sense if the company’s 2018 flagship didn’t come with the latest version of Android.

As for the Geekbench scores themselves, the Galaxy S9 Plus scored 2422 in Single-Core testing, and 8351 in Multi-Core testing. This blows many other devices out of the water, but still lags in comparison to Apple’s A11 Bionic chip that is found on the iPhone X. On the bright side, this is almost a 27% increase for Single-Core scores when compared to the Snapdragon 835, and a 31% increase for Multi-Core scores.

While the rumors have been sporadic regarding a possible launch date for the Galaxy S9 lineup, we are expecting to see some type of formal announcement in February. Nonetheless, that gives us more than enough time to learn even more about Samsung’s latest offerings. Let us know what you think about these Geekbench results in the comments below.
