A couple of nights ago, Google released its teaser for Google I/O 2018, where the company wanted everyone to play a game to figure out the date and location of the latest developer conference. The game was pretty fun, and we learned that I/O 2018 will again be held at the Shoreline Amphitheater for the third straight year, taking place on May 8th.
At the time, we weren’t sure of when registrations for the event would open, and if Google would be changing the way that folks are invited to the event. It seems that won’t be the case, although the Google Developers Google+ account shared that you will be able to “apply to purchase a ticket” starting on February 22nd.
This registration period will last from the 22nd until February 27th, although pricing for the tickets was not shared at this time. As has been the case for the last few years, we are expecting Google to select attendees via lottery, meaning that unless you are specifically selected, you will be left out of the fun.
While Google Assistant and Android 9.0 (Pineapple?) will be at the forefront, Google has yet to really share much of what’s going to be shown off at the conference as of yet. Of course, we’ll be learning more in the coming weeks and months, and we’ll be sure to keep everyone updated as more information becomes available.
