We’ve been waiting what feels like ages now for the arrival of the Nokia 9. The model that was supposed to launch in 2017 actually made its debut as the Nokia 8 Sirocco back at Mobile World Congress.
We’re not sure what prompted that deviation, but NokiaPowerUser reports that the true Nokia 9 will launch at some point in 2018 alongside a Snapdragon 845-toting Nokia 8 Pro.
Aside from sporting the same top-tier chipset as the Nokia 8 Pro, the Nokia 9 is said to be taking things over the top in the camera department. It’s said to be getting an even better version of the Penta-lens camera slated for the Nokia 8 Pro, which — if you don’t know — could be bringing as many as 5 different camera sensors to the rear of your phone.
While we still don’t know what to expect from Penta-lens technology, it’s interesting to hear Nokia is already far enough along with it that they’re planning improvements for higher tier smartphones.
It all sounds good to us, but we won’t be jumping for joy until this thing actually sees the light of day. We’re told to be getting these goods just as the summer months are about to ripen, so a bit of patience is necessary if you’re eager to hear more about this one.
