When Apple removed the headphone jack, most other Android device manufacturers quickly followed suit. Sure it was Motorola who did it first (much like Essential had the first notch), but Apple opened the floodgates and most everyone else poured in.
Huawei was no exception, its latest flagships have been missing their headphone jacks, so it’s a huge surprise to see renders of the Huawei P30 leak with a headphone jack. The device, which borrows a lot from the Mate 20 Pro, features a large edge-to-edge display (thankfully without the curves), a teardrop notch, a red power button, the classic P20 triple camera setup but with no interruption in the black cover, and the reflective and colorful rear we’re used to from the company.
While the leak is not all surprising (it looks much like what we’d expect from the next device in the P series), the presence of a headphone jack is extremely surprising. We didn’t expect any major manufacturer to bring it back. This isn’t official, so don’t get your hopes up yet, but there’s a glimmer of hope that Huawei has learned that removing features is not a good idea.
