Alongside the Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e unveiled at the Unpacked event last month, Samsung also teased a fourth variant of the S10 line, one that would support 5G. While the masses aren’t lining up to pre-order a device that uses technology not widely available, it still poses the question when the Galaxy S10 5G will launch and a new report suggests it might not be far away.
According to a report from Yonhap News Agency, the Galaxy S10 5G will launch in South Korea on April 5, which is great news for residents of the country who have had access to 5G for some time already but is rather irrelevant for the U.S readers. For our readers in South Korea, if you buy the phone between April 5th and April 16th, you’ll get a free pair of Galaxy Buds as well as a 50 percent discount on screen replacements for one year, because apparently, that’s a thing.
The Galaxy S10 5G has some subtle differences from the rest of the S10 lineup, aside from the obvious 5G connectivity. The device has a 6.7-inch 3040×1440 Super AMOLED display and a quad rear camera array that adds a 3D-Depth sensor in addition to the 12MP telephoto, 12MP wide-angle, and 16MP ultra wide-angle lenses. The 5G model of the S10 also comes equipped with a larger 4500mAh battery.
The Galaxy S10 5G is expected to cost around 1.5 million South Korean won, which is equivalent to roughly $1,320 USD. As for the U.S launch, the S10 will be coming to all four major carriers sometime in the first half of 2019, but the launch date is yet to be confirmed. Samsung usually launches its devices in South Korea first before coming to other markets, so the U.S launch will probably be a few weeks after April 5.
