Smart speakers are gaining in popularity and it’s not hard to see why. The ability for users to command their smart home devices using just their voice in any room seems like the perfect setup, especially since smaller smart speakers like the Google Home Mini are actually pretty affordable when you think about it.
If the Home Mini sounds like something you might be interested in, then you’ll be pleased to learn that according to the folks at 9to5Google, they have learnt that Google is apparently developing a second-gen model that will be known as the Nest Mini. This follows Google’s rebranding efforts as they are starting to convert their smart devices to the Nest brand.
According to 9to5Google, they claim that design-wise, the Nest Mini will not be too different from the Home Mini. It is expected to be ever-so-slightly larger, but only marginally. It will offer up similar functionality, but there will also be some improvements made. This includes the ability to mount it on the wall, better quality audio, and also the addition of a 3.5mm headphone jack which means that users can plug in their phones or tablets via a cable if they wish.
There is no word on a launch date, but there is a good chance it could be unveiled alongside the Pixel 4 this coming October, so be sure to check back with us then if you’d like to learn more about the device.
