Google Fi’s current and only available plan is flexible and great for saving money. You pay $20 a month for unlimited talk and text, and $10 a month per gigabyte of data use on top of that. After the 6th gigabye, data becomes unlimited so you can’t pay more than $80 a month (before taxes and fees of course).
This plan includes all the goodies like no contract, mobile hotspot, international calls, and even travel to 200 destinations with no extra fees or setup. Google Fi really makes travel easy.
But some people want unlimited everything, and Google has announced a new unlimited plan you can choose instead of the standard flexible plan. This will give you all the benefits of the old maxed out plan along with 100GB of Google Cloud storage as a bonus. Unfortunately, unlimited data is, as always, misleading. Google is very open about throttling you after 22GB of usage per person and “optimizing” video streams to 480p. It’s a tough pill to swallow when you’re specifically paying for “unlimited” but this is not uncommon among carriers.
The plan costs $70 a month for a single line, $60 per line for two, $50 per line for three, or $45 per line for 4-6 lines. And if you get your unlimited plan from now until tomorrow the 18th, you can get half off a Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL (not a bad deal considering the Pixel 4 is not yet out).
