The smart speaker segment is hot and every company is trying to release their own. Huawei is next with the newly announced Sound X, a black egg-shaped, almost Homepod looking smart speaker with a surprising company behind the sound.
Huawei has teamed up with French audio company Devialet to build this speaker. Devialet is best known in the mainstream market for the Phantom line of speakers, which are expensive, extravagant, and sound incredible. Even the cheapest model is over a thousand dollars (and also egg-shaped).
Inside the Sound X you’ll find six mid-range drivers and dual 60W woofers for 360 degree sound and the bass Devialet is known for. The speaker also uses Devialet’s Speaker Active Matching and Push-Push technologies for better sound.
The smart speaker will be running Huawei’s own software and will come in this single black color. It is now available for pre-order and will launch on December 5th for RMB 1,999 (about $284 USD) in mainland China with no news on availability elsewhere. It’s a shame, because with Devialet’s rep, I bet it sounds amazing.
