After its successful launch in the US, Disney+ is set to make its debut in the UK and other select European markets on March 24th, a week earlier than expected. Disney+ Pricing in the UK will be £5.99 per month or £59.99 for a full year while the monthly and yearly subscription pricing in the other EU countries will be set at or €6.99 and €69.99, matching the prices Disney has been charging for its streaming video service in the Netherlands.
Disney has not yet announced any launch discounts similar to those offered in the US which offered significant savings for customers willing to pay for three years upfront.
The March 24th launch of Disney+ will bring the streaming video service to Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Ireland, Austria, and Switzerland. Disney has not released its complete rollout schedule yet, but it plans to flip the switch for Belgium, Portugal and the Nordics during the summer of 2020.
According to multiple reports, the launch of Disney+ in the US was a massive success for the multi-media conglomerate. That being said, it’s still too early to say if Disney+ will be as successful as Netflix in the US ad global markets since its content catalog doesn’t offer nearly as much as its main competitor.
