One of the promised features of Google Stadia is support for 4K streaming. Given that these days we’re seeing more 4K displays, this sounds like a pretty standard feature to expect. The good news is that if you are a Google Stadia subscriber and would love 4K streaming, you’re in luck because Google has started to roll out support for 4K gaming on the web.
Prior to this, Stadia did support 4K streaming, although it was a bit limited in the sense that it could only be through devices like the Chromecast Ultra and televisions. Now with 4K support for the web, it will give gamers more options on where they want to stream their games from, such as their desktop PCs or their laptops.
Before you get too excited, we should point out that 4K streaming will require users to have an “Excellent” connection (as measured by Google’s standards). If you fail to meet that requirement, then your stream will be downgraded. This means that you will need to have an internet speed of over 35Mbps. You will also need to have a subscription to Google’s $9.99 Stadia Pro.
If you have all those things, then you should be able to start streaming your games in 4K quality over the web. We imagine that the difference in image quality will be pretty huge and also for the better.
