flexpai 2

The Royole Flexpai 2 is a true flagship foldable smartphone

When all the fuss was surrounding Samsung and Huawei’s foldable phones, a company going by the name Royole actually beat everyone to the punch with the launch of the Royole Flexpai, the first company to launch a foldable smartphone. While the device was not particularly well-received amongst those who got their hands on it, the company is back with a second attempt.

Dubbed the Royole Flexpai 2, this is the company’s second attempt at making a foldable smartphone, which they claim to have improved upon by using a third-gen Cicada Wing design that offers a smaller crease in the display and bend radius, while also improving on the display’s brightness, contrast, and viewing angles.

The display will unfold to 7.8-inches with 4:3 ratio, and according to the company, they are boasting durability of over 200,000 bends without sustaining any damage (although this has yet to be put to the test).

Under the hood, the Flexpai 2 will offer up flagship specs. This includes the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, which means that it will also come with support for 5G connectivity, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.0 storage. The Flexpai 2 is currently scheduled for a launch in Q2 2020, but there was no mention of how much it would cost and if it would find its way to other markets besides China.

In the meantime, you can check out the phone’s official announcement in the video above.
