Sony’s flagship WH-1000XM3 over-ear headphones and WF-1000XM3 in-ear headphones both offer best in class (or even best overall) active noise cancelling. But at $350 and $230 respectively, they’re very expensive for the average user.
The company has cheaper offerings, but today they’ve announced budget-friendly active noise cancelling headphones for the masses. The WH-CH710N is the over-ear version, featuring 30mm drivers, NFC, and a whopping 35 hours of battery life with USB-C quick charging. There’s also active noise cancelling with the ability to switch modes depending on what the user is doing, much like their flagship counterpart, and of course an ambient sound mode. Rather than touch controls, you get buttons which might be a benefit to some. They will be available for pre-order later this month for $199.99.
The Sony WF-XB700 is the latest set of true wireless earphones in the Xtra Bass line. While they don’t have active noise cancelling, they do have serious bass which some may like. They feature huge 12mm drivers, an impressive 9 hour battery life with 9 more in the case, and IPX4 water resistance. All this will cost you $129.99, cheaper than the new Galaxy Buds+.
Both of these come in at far more affordable prices than the rest of Sony’s lineup but will hopefully have Sony’s sound quality in tow. $200 for the WH-CH710N is especially tempting knowing how good Sony ANC is.
