The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip launched earlier this year, but for a phone that costs nearly $1,500, one of the features that seemed to be missing from the phone is 5G. Given that if you’re going to spend that much money on a phone, there’s a good chance you’ll probably want to hold onto it for the next few years, and missing out on 5G doesn’t sound too appealing.
The good news is that if you held off on buying the phone, you’ll be pleased to learn that according to a new report from SamMobile, they have heard from a source that Samsung could apparently be planning to launch a new variant of the Galaxy Z Flip later this year where the newer model will come with 5G.
As SamMobile points out, the Galaxy Z Flip comes with a pretty small 3,300mAh battery. With 5G being a bigger drain on batteries compared to 4G, perhaps that was one of the reasons why the company held off on launching a 5G version of the phone. We’re not sure if the newer model will come with a larger battery, but if you want to futureproof yourself, then perhaps it might not be such a bad idea to hold off on buying the current version.
There is no word that apart from the inclusion of 5G, if there will be other hardware changes that will be made to the phone, so do take this report with a grain of salt for now and hopefully we’ll have more details later on.
In other Samsung foldable phone news, the company is rumored to launch a Galaxy Fold 2 later this year where it will be offered with a base storage of 256GB that will also make the phone more affordable.
