The mid-range 5G smartphone space just jog a hot new competitor with the introduction of the Motorola One 5G. While the company has great market share in the budget segment, the new Motorola One 5G was built specifically to challenge the OnePlus Nord, one of the first devices to deliver 5G for under $500. Motorola isn’t giving specifics on the price of the One 5G, but the line they are feeding us and other media outlets is that the phone will have a sub-$500 price tag ($499.99 sounds about right).
To challenge the OnePlus Nord, the Motorola One 5G is equipped with a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10 compliance, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of on-board storage, microSD expandable storage (up to 1TB), a massive 5,000 mAh battery and 15w fast charging. The Motorola One 5G also includes a quad-camera setup on the back with a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, 5MP macro camera + ring light and a 2MP depth sensor. Like the Nord, it also has two front-facing cameras: a 16MP standard and 8MP ultra-wide.
Motorola isn’t saying yet when the phone will be making its retail debut, but the Motorola One 5G is set to show up from Verizon and AT&T to fill out their mid-range 5G smartphone offerings. Motorola will likely be selling an unlocked variant of the phone directly through its website and other online retail channels as well which means you should be able to pick one up if you’re a T-Mobile customer.
