Vivo makes its European debut with the launch of the Vivo X51

Vivo, a sister company to Oppo, OnePlus, and RealMe, is officially making its way into the European market today with the launch of the Vivo X51. The premium mid-range smartphone will be going head-to-head with other devices running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, but the company is hoping the phone’s unique camera system will help it stand out from the crowd.

The main selling point of the Vivo X51 is its 48MP main sensor which features a double-ball gimbal suspension mount for 3D stabilization that “can cover angles 300% larger than OIS” for incredibly stable video capture. On top of that, the phone also features a 13MP 50mm (2X telephoto) camera, 8MP 120° ultrawide camera that pulls double duty as a macro camera, and a 5X periscope telephoto camera featuring an 8MP sensor.

The phone’s 6.56-inch, FHD+ display comes with a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling while also delivering 1300 nits of peak brightness which should make it quite easy to view in direct sunlight. The phone’s 4315mAh battery should be quite capable of keeping the phone powered throughout a long day, but Vivo is also throwing in 33W FlashCharge 2.0 that promises to deliver a 57% charge to the phone in 30 minutes.

The phone’s 765G chipset offers 5G connectivity in most countries across Europe and is paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

In the UK, the Vivo X51 will be priced at £749 while buyers across the rest of Europe will be asked to spend €799 to purchase the device. Since this is Vivo’s first real push into the European market, the company is also bringing along the Vivo Y70 (£279) and Vivo Y20 (£149) which will debut alongside the Vivo X51 on October 29th in the UK and the rest of Europe.
