People enjoy all styles of games, whether it be slow and relaxing games, to brain teasers, to puzzles, role-playing, adventure, multiplayer, and so on. If you prefer games that are a bit more fast-paced, then this is where the action games genre really shines. We’ve put together a list of what we think are some of the best action games available on Android and iOS devices in 2020, so if you’re looking for new action games to check out, hopefully you’ll find something worth playing on this list.
League of Legends: Wild Rift
League of Legends is one of the most popular MOBA games in the market right now, and its developers at Riot have decided to bring a version of the game onto mobile devices. The mobile version, titled Wild Rift, offers up similar gameplay to the original PC version, except that it has been condensed to make it easier to play on our smartphones, and also matches are shorter so that gamers don’t have to spend an hour on a single match.
Vainglory
If MOBA games are your kind of thing, then Vainglory could be an alternative to Riot’s League of Legends: Wild Rift. The game initially made its debut as an iPhone exclusive and as a way for Apple and the developers to show off the iPhone’s Metal graphics, but it has since found its way onto Android as well. The game supports-platform play which means that you can play it on your Android phone against iPhone players or even those playing on PC or Mac.
Call of Duty Mobile
We would be remiss if we did not include Activision’s Call of Duty Mobile on this list. The franchise has been extremely popular on consoles and PCs, so it’s not surprising that Activision would bring it to mobile devices where players will be able to enjoy getting in a battle or two while on the go. The game broke all kinds of records upon its release, nabbing over 100 million downloads in the first week, and netting Activision and Tencent over $17 million in revenue at the same time.
PUBG Mobile
Battle royale styled games are pretty popular these days where we’ve started to see even traditional FPS games like Call of Duty adopt a similar concept in their games, so obviously Tencent’s PUBG Mobile had to make this list. The game is available on both PC, console, and mobile devices, although unfortunately it is not cross-platform compatible meaning that mobile players can only play against other mobile players, although given how popular the game is, we reckon you shouldn’t have any issues finding players to play with.
Mortal Kombat
When it comes to action games, we reckon that Mortal Kombat fits perfectly on this list. By now, pretty much every gamer, or at least the majority of gamers should be familiar with the franchise. Featuring some pretty gross and creative ways of finishing off your opponents using fatalities, you can now experience that action on your mobile device.
Brawl Stars
If you enjoy brawler style games where it’s basically a free-for-all madness, then Brawl Stars might be worth checking out. The game doesn’t take itself too seriously in terms of graphics and features cute-looking characters and animations, but don’t let the cuteness distract you because it is still a pretty fun and intense game that will require you to have some level of skill to win.
Into the Dead 2
Into the Dead 2 is a rather interesting concept as far as action games are concerned. It combines popular genres like endless runners and FPS games, where you’re playing in FPS mode but you’re trying to survive as long as you can while you dodge and fight your way through hordes of zombies. We have to admit that playing in FPS mode does make this game feel more scary and intense, but if that’s what you’re after, then it might be worth giving Into the Dead 2 a shot.
Dragon Ball Legends
There’s a very good chance that you grew up watching the Dragon Ball anime series, or read its manga, or at the very least have heard of it. While there have been multiple attempts to turn the series into a game, we have to say that Dragon Ball Legends comes pretty close in creating a game that accurately represents the characters from the series. It’s not necessarily a traditional fighting game, but rather it involves the use of cards that allow players to power up and perform their moves, but it’s still a fun take on the franchise nonetheless.
