There have been plenty of Samsung Galaxy S21 leaks floating around recently, shedding light on quite a few features and specs the phone will offer. While today’s news isn’t another leak, it is the official documentation from the FCC, confirming a handful of key Galaxy S21 specifications ahead of the smartphone’s launch in January. The device in question is listed as a Samsung SM-G991U which is most likely the base configuration of the Galaxy S21.
The biggest news from the FCC documentation is that the phone is powered by a Qualcomm SM8350 which is the new Snapdragon 888 that was announced last week. Various rumors have indicated that Samsung would be using this same chipset, but Samsung has not yet confirmed anything publicly. European and Asian variants of the phone will likely be using the Exynos 2100 to power the smartphone.

The FCC listing for the Samsung Galaxy S21 also confirms that the phone will feature mmWave 5G support, Wi-Fi 6 and an NFC chip. While the phone’s battery capacity isn’t specifically called out, the EB-BG991ABY battery cell is known to offer a 4,000mAh capacity. The FCC listing also makes reference to Samsung’s EP-TA800 which is capable of delivering 25W fast charging to the battery, though it’s not yet clear if it will be included with the phone. Recent rumors have suggested that Samsung may follow in Apple’s footsteps by not including a charging brick with its upcoming flagship smartphones.
While last year’s Galaxy S20 didn’t sell quite as well as the previous year’s phone, Samsung’s plan to bring the phone to market nearly a month sooner than usual should allow them to create some separation between them and their biggest competitors. Samsung has yet to announce the official launch date for its Galaxy S21 lineup, but most rumors have indicated that the phone will make its debut during the second half of January.
