Best PUBG Mobile first-person shooter alternatives for Android and iPhone

0

While first-person shooters have been popular for a while now, one particular variation of the FPS genre comes in the form of a battle royale mode, where a larger number of players gather on a single battlefield and fight to the last person standing. Usually it also involves a timer where the zone that you can fight in gets smaller, increasing the intensity of the game and also speeding things along.

It can be fun and addictive, so it’s not hard to see why titles such as PUBG are extremely popular. That being said, if you’re not necessarily a fan of PUBG and want to play another game that offers up a similar playstyle, then read on because we’ve compiled some of the best PUBG alternatives available for both Android and iOS devices.

Fortnite

Apart from PUBG, Epic’s Fortnite is also more or less synonymous with the battle royale genre. The game has been extremely popular and helped many streamers gain in popularity. It has also reportedly made the company a ton of money from in-app purchases. Do note that the game isn’t available on iOS at this point in time due to the squabble that Epic and Apple are having. It is expected to eventually make its way onto NVIDIA’s GeForce Now game streaming service, but until then, it is only available on Android.

Call of Duty: Mobile

It probably goes without saying that Activision’s Call of Duty: Mobile fits perfectly on this list. While it might be a bit late to the game compared to its competition, it is still an extremely popular title thanks to its strong fanbase from the Call of Duty franchise. It offers regular team matches, but there is also a 100-player battle royale mode that should prove to be rather exciting and intense.

Garena Free Fire: 3volution

Unlike some other battle royale styled games, 3volution is actually considered to be one of the “smaller” games where it will support up to 49 other players. This means that the game will feel less intensive. It will also offer up the ability for gamers to form four-person teams which should be great for newbies looking to get into the battle royale genre but don’t want to feel too overwhelmed.

Pixel’s Unknown Battle Grounds

Playing on the PUBG name, this is a similar style battle royale game except that it tries to be a bit more lighthearted thanks to its Minecraft-esque graphics. There are various fun and silly skins for players to choose from, so if you do enjoy battle royale games but don’t want the serious-looking graphics that other titles offer, then this could be the other PUBG worth checking out.

Zooba

Speaking of battle royale games that don’t take themselves too seriously, Zooba is one such title that comes to mind. Featuring animals as playable characters instead of humans, it almost feels like this is like the movie Zootopia with a slightly more violent twist. It offers features like character customization, physics-based action, and unique game controls, not to mention it looks pretty cute on top of everything else.

Battlelands Royale

The thing about mobile games is that sometimes you just want a game that you can get in quickly and get out quickly just to kill some time. If that sounds like the perfect game for you, then Battlelands Royale could be it. The game offers a battle royale style experience but with a much smaller group of up to 32 players. Each match lasts for about 3-5 minutes which means that you can be in and out in a short period of time.

Black Survival

For gamers who like the anime aesthetic, then Black Survival might be the game for you. It offers up fast-paced action but unlike other battle royale games that just require you to pick up a weapon and kill other players, Black Survival also offers more complexity and depth by letting players craft items like weapons, tools, and food.
