Mobvoi’s Earbuds Gesture make it easy to answer calls

0

It should come as no surprise that we are seeing an influx of new truly wireless headphones now that CES 2021 has officially kicked off. Mobvoi, known as the company behind TicPods, is joining the fray with a truly unique take on how you can interact with your phone.

The Mobvoi Earbuds Gesture sport a dedicated processor along with AI software known as TicMotion and a six-axis motion sensor to track your head movements. This makes it so that you can simply answer a phone call with nothing more than a nod of your head. Although the options are limited at launch, you can also shake your head twice to reject an incoming call.

  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • 6mm dynamic drivers
  • TicMotion Head-gesture controls
  • Touch controls
  • Battery Life:
    • 7 hours of talk time
    • 10 hours of music playback
    • Up to 50 hours with charging case
    • 1.25-hours to recharge
    • USB-C for charging case
    • 10-minute charge offers four hours of playback time
  • Siri and Google Assistant support
  • Dual-mic noise cancellation
  • Mono mode
  • IPX5 water-resistance

The rest of the specs for the Earbuds Gesture are pretty straightforward, with the exception of battery life. Mobvoi claims that you will be able to get up to 50 hours of total usage when combining the battery of the earbuds and the included charging case. A 10-minute charge provides up to four hours of additional playback time, while it only takes 1.25 hours to charge the case back to 100%.

Perhaps what makes this battery life so impressive is that Mobvoi has included noise cancellation with the Earbuds Gesture. But instead of relying on Active Noise Cancellation, the design is such that with the included silicone ear tips, you will be able to enjoy passive noise cancellation. There is also a dual noise-canceling microphone system to help drown out any background noises while you are taking a phone call.

If using your head for gestures isn’t your thing, then the Earbuds Gesture will still work just fine as traditional Bluetooth earbuds. The outer stem of each earbud is touch-sensitive, making it easy to control your music in a more-recognizable fashion. Mobvoi also included IPX5 water resistance for those who want to hit the gym with the Earbuds Gesture, along with a Mono Mode so you can use just one earbud at a time.
