Last year, Sony announced and launched the Xperia 1 II, which means that for 2021, the company will most likely follow up with the Xperia 1 III. Now thanks to leakster Steve Hemmerstoffer, also known as @OnLeaks, renders of the phone have made their way online in a 360-degree video.
That being said, if you look at the phone and wonder why it looks so familiar, it is because it seems that Sony hasn’t changed much in terms of design. Is this a bad thing? Not necessarily, especially if you liked the previous design, so it’s good to see Sony being consistent with its product designs.
As for its specs, it has been rumored that the phone will most likely maintain the 6.5-inch OLED 21:9 display with 4K resolution, making it one of the few smartphones in the market today to actually feature a 4K display. There have also been rumors claiming that Sony will be using a new periscope camera that will help result in better quality telephoto shots, although the use of the periscope camera is said to make the phone ever-so-slightly thicker by about 0.5mm.
Whether or not it’s noticeable remains to be seen, but it’s something worth noting. Other than that, we can pretty much assume that the phone will pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, which is the chipset of choice for flagships these days. We have no idea when the phone will be launched, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
