There are plenty of shooter games available on mobile, but oddly enough it was only in the recent years that we’re seeing developers bother to bring popular PC or console titles over to mobile. For those wondering when will it be Battlefield’s turn, you’re in luck.
DICE has announced on its website that a mobile version of Battlefield is being developed in partnership with Industrial Toys. This will mark the first time time that the game is being brought over to mobile, and according to DICE, it will be a standalone title meaning that gamers will only be able play with other mobile gamers instead of it being a cross-platform port.
“A completely different game from the one we’re making for console and PC, designed specifically for the mobile platform. It’s being built from the ground up by iToys to make Battlefield-on-the-go a reality and you can expect a fully-fledged, skill-based experience. This mobile game is now entering a testing period ahead of launching next year, so expect more details to come.”
Given that the game is only due next year, it means that we have quite a bit of waiting to do ahead of its release. In the meantime, Battlefield’s direct competitor Call of Duty has available on mobile for quite a while now and has done pretty well for itself, so we can’t wait to see if the mobile version of Battlefield will be able to live up to the PC/console versions.
