Gaming phones were launched a couple of years ago and to be honest, it felt like a bit of a novelty. After all, what is a gaming smartphone? For the most part, it features the same high-end hardware as a flagship, but looking at the scene today, it seems that gaming phones have really caught on.
In fact, Redmi has announced their first-ever gaming smartphone – the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition. While it’s not exactly the most powerful smartphone we’ve seen, it has an asking price of around $310 which is pretty decent, especially when you consider some of the specs that you’ll be getting as well, which includes:
The phone will also come with a triple camera setup on the back which includes a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. The phone also comes with built-in speakers that Redmi claims has been tuned by JBL, and there is a decently-sized 5,000mAh battery and support for 67W charging.
According to Redmi, the 67W charging will allow the phone to charge from 1% to full in just 42 minutes, which is pretty impressive. We’re not sure if Redmi has plans to bring the phone to markets other than China, so maybe don’t get your hopes up just yet, but if they do, $310 for this phone seems like a pretty good deal.
