When you think of smart home products, the first things that come to mind likely include Amazon Alexa, Google’s Nest lineup, or Philips Hue. However, Samsung has its own family of smart home products, all that can be controlled with the Samsung SmartThings app on your phone. Previously, you would have to go to your Android phone in order to control these products, but that’s no longer the case.
Today, Samsung has introduced a new SmartThings app that is free to download from the Microsoft Store. The app was introduced alongside the Galaxy Book Pro, with some expecting that there would be some limitations. It would not have come as a surprise for users to only be able to download the app if they owned a Samsung computer. But thankfully, that’s not the case.
After downloading the app, you’ll need to simply follow the on-screen instructions in order to begin controlling your smart home devices. But the app also makes it easy to locate your Samsung Galaxy devices if you misplace your Galaxy Buds Pro or if your smartphone fell between the couch cushions.
What makes this even more of a big deal is the fact that you can create different SmartThings scenes across your devices. This is a different level of automation, allowing a wide array of smart home products work together in perfect sync.
The app is available to download for free from the Microsoft Store. Just fire it up and start having some fun creating different scenes and controlling your smart home.
