Over the last few months, Spotify has been working on a redesign of its mobile and desktop apps, bringing a more fluid design across the board. We have seen some major changes, along with some not-so-major changes, and today, we’re getting an awesome new feature for podcasts.
The latest update allows you to share specific timestamps to certain places within a podcast. Maybe it’s a funny joke or an in-depth explanation within a podcast, you can now share that timestamp with your friends easily.
Sharing specific time stamps is pretty straightforward, as you’ll simply need to just tap the Share icon in the podcast to get started. From there, you’ll see a new section at the top of the share sheet, with a timestamp and a toggle. Then, you can just share the link to the podcast through any of your apps without worrying about limitations.
There is also a new change available for those who like to share songs from Spotify, especially those with the custom Spotify canvas. While you can’t share a specific timestamp of a song, if your currently playing song has a Spotify canvas, that will also be displayed in the preview and is compatible with Snapchat or Instagram. For now, other apps will continue to simply show the link and album artwork, so there’s nothing super-special there.
While there have been some manual app updates from Spotify, these two newest features seem to be on the server-side. Not everyone has received the update just yet, but it’s only a matter of time as is the case with most staged update rollouts.
