Right after we heard about Anker potentially launching a new Android TV streaming dongle later this year, we’re now getting our first look at the onn. Android TV streaming box from Walmart. This $30 streaming box is fully equipped with Android TV, and includes a remote that was designed by Google, and seems to be the same one shown off with Anker’s Nebula 4K TV box.
On the box, you can see that there will be support for all of the major streaming services, including the recently-launched Paramount+. The only major player missing from the advertising is Amazon Prime Video, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it is available to download.
The onn. Android TV box itself is rather small and compact, only sporting a microUSB port for power, along with an HDMI port that plugs into your television of choice. With the included remote, you’ll find the standard navigation buttons, along with a dedicated Assistant button at the top, and four shortcut buttons at the bottom for YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max.
In the hands-on video, the specs were also confirmed, with the Amlogic S905Y2 processor powering this streaming device, with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. Essentially, this is exactly what you’ll find with Google’s standard Chromecast, and not the Chromecast with Google TV. Speaking of which, it was also confirmed that this new streaming box is running Android TV 10, and not the new Google TV that seems to be making its way to some new smart TV sets.
The most intriguing aspect of this upcoming streaming box is the price, coming in at just $29.88. However, it’s not officially available on store shelves just yet, but we expect to see it arrive in the coming days or weeks. You can head over to Walmart to learn more and bookmark the listing page for when it becomes available.
