Samsung hasn’t decided if they should halt production of the Galaxy S21 FE

0

For a while now, we have been hearing that Samsung could be planning on launching the Galaxy S21 FE, following in the footsteps of some of its previous “Fan Edition” smartphones. We’ve seen leaked benchmarks to suggest that the phone’s launch could be close at hand, but to date the handset has yet to be announced.

In fact, there was a recent report from ETNews (the article has since been deleted) which claims that production on the phone could be halted due to the worsening chip shortage. So what gives? Samsung has since responded to the report in a statement to Bloomberg which basically tells us nothing, although we have a feeling that it might not bode well for fans. According to Samsung:

“While we cannot discuss details of the unreleased product, nothing has been determined regarding the alleged production suspension.”

What’s interesting is that the Galaxy S21 FE was supposed to act as a “replacement” to the Galaxy Note series. If you recall, earlier this year Samsung said that they would be skipping the launch of the Note series this year due to chip shortages, so it’s actually interesting that the Galaxy S21 FE could be plagued by the same problems that delayed the Note’s launch to 2022.

In any case, only time will tell if Samsung will continue ahead with the Galaxy S21 FE this year, so check back with us later for more updates.
