Remember when Nothing was supposed to launch its first product, the Ear 1 headphones in June? Yeah, well there’s still nothing going on in that regard, as Founder Carl Pei stated that the Ear 1 buds have been delayed.
A month ago we announced that ear (1) would be revealed in June. We’re near the finish line and there are a few things left to finalize. For this reason @Nothing ear (1) will now come out a bit later this summer. Your support and patience mean the world to us. More updates soon!

In a tweet, Pei stated that the company was “near the finish line”, but that there are “a few things left to finalize”. Because of this, the Nothing Ear (1) earbuds have been delayed until later this Summer.
While we’re still excited to see what Pei and Nothing have been working on, this isn’t exactly the greatest start. The company has largely remained quiet since its last update a little over a month ago. Before then, we have only seen the acquisition of Teenage Engineering along with the remnants of Andy Rubin’s Essential venture.
Carl Pei left OnePlus after being one of the co-founders and spent more than a few years with the company before surprisingly leaving late last year. He began work on founding this new Nothing venture, receiving some backing from various investors in an effort to get the ball rolling on a new product. The company has also hinted at launching a smartphone, smartwatch, and maybe even a computer in the future.
The headphone market is already pretty saturated as it is, with the Sony WF-1000XM4s being recently released, along with the announcement of the new Beats Studio Buds. Plus, the Google Pixel Buds A-Series became available just yesterday, so Pei’s Nothing will have some pretty stiff competition when/if the Ear 1 buds actually arrive. We’re still holding out hope, but we’re currently left with Nothing in our hands or ears.
