It’s been less than a week since the Pixel Buds A-Series has been available for purchase, but problems are already cropping up. No, these aren’t the same connectivity issues that plagued the last-gen Pixel Buds. Those were caused by how the Buds connect to your phone and connect to each other. Instead of both earbuds connecting to your phone, only one earbud would. This resulted in sporadic instances where your connection would just cut out.
Thankfully, that’s not the same problem that we’re now seeing with the Pixel Buds A-Series. A new post in the Pixel Buds Help Community (via Android Central) claims that there are problems with the in-ear detection.
It seems as though if the Pixel Buds A-Series are put in your ears, and Google Assistant is triggered to start the music, then earbuds won’t stop playing the music when removed. It would appear that this only occurs when trying to activate Assistant after putting them into your ears.
The problem was actually reproduced by a Google Product Expert running Android 12 on a Pixel 5. However, the problem seems like it “fixed” itself randomly, but we aren’t sure if this is a more widespread issue.
We’ll have to wait and see whether there’s more to this story, or if this is an isolated incident. Considering that the 2nd-gen Pixel Buds are disappearing from store shelves, let’s hope that the new Pixel Buds aren’t already experiencing problems.
