We know that Samsung is nearing the announcement of the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4. It’s possible that the introduction is made at MWC 2021, as Samsung is hosting a virtual event where it plans to talk about the “future of smartwatches”. It also helps that we’ve been seeing more and more leaks about the upcoming wearables to go along with Samsung’s own confirmation that it would be coming later this year.
What we didn’t know, at least until today, was what the Galaxy Watch Active 4 was going to look like. This will be one of two new smartwatches to be powered by the (hopefully) improved Wear OS, with the Galaxy Watch 4 being the other. But thanks to OnLeaks in collaboration with GizNext, we now have an idea of what the Watch Active 4 is going to look like.
According to these renders, the Watch Active 4 is set to arrive with four different color options — Black, Silver, Green, and Gold. The design has also been tweaked compared to the Watch Active 2, as it appears that there won’t be a gap between where the band fastens to the watch itself. Perhaps this means that there’s a new mechanism being used here, but let’s hope we’ll still be able to use traditional 20mm or 22mm bands for the 40mm and 44mm watch sizes.
Unfortunately, these renders don’t confirm the reports necessarily, but it seems that the bezels will be slimmed down on the Watch Active 4. There was nothing really wrong with the bezels on the Galaxy Watch Active 2, but Samsung is trying to make this watch as sleek as possible.
In addition to running the new version of Wear OS, the Watch Active 4’s processor is said to be built on the 5nm process. It’s likely that this will be a new processor from Samsung, which means that Exynos will be taking care of the heavy lifting.
With Samsung’s MWC event slated to kick off later this month, that’s also when OnLeaks is suggesting that the Watch Active 4 will be announced. Unfortunately, we don’t know much else in regards to a price or an official launch date.
