It’s that time of the year where we’re going to start a lot new Chromebook offerings. This usually happens in the beginning of the Summer, and Lenovo is keeping things rolling. Today, the company announced two new Chromebooks, along with a new lineup of Windows laptops.
Lenovo Ideapad 5i Chromebook
Starting things off, we have the new Lenovo Ideapad 5i, which sports a 14-inch display with a Full-HD touchscreen display. As is the tradition with most Chromebooks, three out of the four sides of this display are thin, with a thicker bezel at the bottom.
Although the Ideapad 5i has a touchscreen display, it’s not a traditional convertible design. However, it can be adjusted to lay down completely flat if that’s something that would be of some use.
As for configurations, Lenovo will be launching three different models, with three different processors. These include the Intel Penguin 750S, Intel Core i3, and the Intel Core i5. RAM options come in at either 4GB or 8GB, while you can pair this with 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage.
Pricing for the Ideapad 5i starts at $439.99, and Lenovo is planning to begin shipping sometime in July.
Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5i Chromebook
If you were looking for a lightweight and convertible Chromebook, then the Flex 5i is the one for you. This laptop features a 13-inch Full-HD display, with he same thin bezels around three of the edges, along with a thicker bezel. But unlike the Ideapad 5i, this display can be folded back and features support for USI stylus pens.
Another difference here is that there are actually four different processors to choose from. This one starts out with the Intel Celeron 6305, and going up to the Intel Core i5. There are two different RAM options with 4GB and 8GB configurations. Storage starts to get murky, as the Intel Celeron and Pentium chipsets are equipped with either 32GB or 64GB of storage. Meanwhile the Core i3 and Core i5 models feature 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB PCIe SSD’s.
Battery life should be pretty great too, as Lenovo rates this as lasting up to 10 hours of juice on a single charge. Lenovo even goes so far to build in a privacy shutter for the webcam, providing you with privacy if you want it.
Pricing for the Ideapad Flex 5i starts at the same $439.99 price point, and will be arriving before the end of the month.
