The Android 12 beta release cycle has been a little bit odd but in a good way. After Android 12 Beta 1 was released, we went a couple of weeks before we saw an update that was largely bug fixes. Android 12 Beta 2 has been available for about a week and a half or so, and Google is pushing another bug fix update.
Arguably Beta 2 has been the larger update so far in the cycle, as we’re seeing more of the Material You design changes implemented compared to Beta 1. But if you’re wondering what’s being fixed in Android 12 Beta 2.1, here’s the full changelog:
- Fixed an issue that prevented users from accessing things on the lock screen. For example, swiping down for the notification shade, swiping away notifications, or swiping up to unlock the phone. (Issue #190702454)
- Fixed issues that caused information such as weather and calendar events to not appear in the At a Glance widget on the home screen or lock screen. (Issue #190700432,Issue #190644743)
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused flickering or jittery animations when accessing recent apps with gesture navigation.
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused microphone and camera permission indicators to get stuck and disappear until the phone was rebooted.
- Fixed an issue when using the Android Emulator with an Android Virtual Device (AVD) running Android 12 that prevented the AVD from connecting to the internet.
- Fixed an issue where after taking Beta and resetting the device, some users are were stuck on setup wizard (Issue #190082536).
Google is also aware that you may still experience some issues even after updating to Beta 2.1. In that case, more fixes are “being rolled out via the Play Store to address stability issues”.
The update should be arriving on devices starting now, and will be available via an OTA update. This is great so you won’t have to worry about trying to manually flash anything to your Pixel device.
