We’re halfway through the year, and the OnePlus 9 series remain one of the more intriguing lineup of devices that we’ve seen so far. On one hand, the OnePlus 9 provides just enough oomph to handle your flagship needs, while the OnePlus 9 Pro takes the battle to Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra for being the best that Android has to offer. If you’re wondering just what you can do with either of these, we’ve rounded up many of the best tips and tricks to make you more familiar with your new phone.
Google has implemented a few new tools designed to keep you from getting lost in your phone and not being “in the moment” in your surroundings. We’ve seen Samsung and OnePlus add similar features that either tie into Digital Wellbeing or act as their own separate feature. With the OnePlus 9, you’ll be able to use Zen Mode in OxygenOS.
Essentially, this turns your phone into a slab of glass, only showing you the time and allowing you to receive phone calls and snap some pictures. Technically, you can also make phone calls, but Zen Mode limits you to only being able to call emergency numbers.
This isn’t an end-all-be-all solution, however, as Zen Mode is only active for a certain amount of time. For instance, starting Zen Mode for the first time will put your phone into its quiet state for 20 minutes. But once you do, that’s it, as you won’t be able to even restart your phone to get out of Zen Mode. Another benefit of this is that you can customize the UI and Zen Mode itself will notify if you’ve been using your phone non-stop for a specific period of time. The default is two hours of continuous usage, but this can be adjusted in the Settings.
