Yesterday’s Samsung event at MWC 2021 was a bit of a flop, as we were expecting to see some new hardware. But it seems that Samsung is just gearing up to have one massive Unpacked event later this Summer. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 are practically ready for prime-time, as production of these devices has reportedly ramped up in recent weeks. And while both of these have been seen in leaks for the past few months, a massive leak just shared pretty much everything there is to know about the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
According to these leaked renders, the Z Flip 3 will sport a two-toned clamshell design, with a slightly larger cover display. The tiny display on the Z Flip 5G was one of the biggest complaints, as it wasn’t really all that useful. Thankfully, it appears as though Samsung will remedy that this time around.
Samsung could also be looking to up the ante in the color department, as these renders show off the device in the following options:
- Dark Green
- Light Violet
- Beige
- Grey
- Black
- Pink
- Dark Blue
- White
That’s quite a bit more than the two basic colors that were offered last time around. As for specs, the Z Flip 3 is expected to feature a 6.7-inch internal display with a 25:9 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate. The aforementioned cover display will now come in at 1.9-inches.
Other rumors point to the Snapdragon 888 SoC providing the power needed, along with a base configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Samsung will also be improving the camera hardware here, moving to a vertical orientation for the lenses.
Finally, while we’ve seen leaks suggest an early-August release, these new renders reveal August 11th. Phone makers have a tendency of using the phone’s launch date when preparing promotional materials, so it’s possible that this is the date for Samsung’s next Unpacked event. At that event, we’re expecting to see the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Watch 4 lineup, and potentially some new Galaxy Buds.
