Late last month, we learned that Nothing would be holding an event on July 27th, where the company will unveil its first product. Ahead of the event, CEO and Founder Carl Pei sat down with TechCrunch and revealed a bit more of what we should expect from the latest entry in the wireless earbuds market.
Pei confirmed that the Ear 1 earbuds will be priced at $99, which firmly places these in competition with the recently-release Pixel Buds A-Series from Google. But what may set these new headphones apart is the built-in “state-of-the-art Active Noise Cancellation which uses three high definition mics”.
Without sharing too much detail, Pei also confirmed that there will be some transparent elements in the design. We aren’t sure whether the design will match up with the concepts that have been shared in the past. However, Pei stated that because of the decision to go transparent with parts of the design, this led to the delays that we’ve seen.
The Nothing Ear 1 earbuds will first be arriving in the U.K., India, Europe, and North America, but Pei isn’t stopping there. He states that following the initial launch, the company has plans to bring its product to Japan, Korea, and other countries. Plus, we could end up with a tidal wave of new Nothing products, given that the Ear 1 are “the first of three products the company currently has in its pipeline.”
If his history at OnePlus is anything to go by, this isn’t the last that we’ve heard from Carl Pei ahead of the Nothing Ear 1 launch. We’re excited to see what the final product actually looks like, but there are still three weeks to go until these headphones are introduced.
