Samsung’s Exynos 2200 could be better than even Apple’s next processor

When the Galaxy S20 was released, there was not a lot of love to be found for the global variant. That’s because instead of using the Snapdragon 865, Samsung’s Exynos chipset caused a myriad of problems. Some even posited the question as to whether Samsung should continue making processors after the issues continued.

Fast forward to today, and these same problems have been squashed from the Galaxy S21 series, with the current Exynos being quite capable in its own right. It still falls a bit behind the Snapdragon 888, but the gap has definitely been closed.

If a new rumor is to be believed, Samsung’s Exynos 2200 processor could be even better than Apple’s rumored A15 processor and Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 895. Not much is known about the Exynos 2200 just yet, but a device with this processor appeared on 3DMark achieving a score of 8134. This places the unannounced chipset ahead of even the Snapdragon 888.

According to TheGalox_ on Twitter, the Exynos 2200 will be more powerful from processing power and graphical power standpoint than the Snapdragon 895. It is said to lag a bit behind the Apple A15 in terms of the CPU, but the 2200 will feature a superior GPU.

Unfortunately, we have no idea as to what devices could be being used for testing the Exynos 2200. These claims are pretty much unsubstantiated at this point, but if this is actually the case, Qualcomm may be in trouble.
