A lot of eyes are focus on Samsung’s next Unpacked event, but a few others have their sights set on a device launch coming even later. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have been tipped to be announced this Fall. We’ve seen full spec sheets leaked along with some pretty sweet-looking renders showing off the devices.
While Google usually doesn’t speak to future device releases, the company may have tipped its hand for these upcoming handsets. Today marks the first day of Google’s Games Developer Summit, where some pretty nifty new features were announced for mobile gamers.
But hidden in the documentation for the new Game Mode API, the company opened a form where developers can request specific optimizations for Pixel phones. On the form, Google provided the following as one of the prompts (via XDA Developers):
Device(s) for which these backbuffer resize settings should be applied (e.g Pixel 6, Pixel 6 XL, etc)
Of course, this likely means nothing as the person who created the form might have just been reading about the devices. The form was also fixed pretty quickly, as the references to the Pixel 6 and 6 XL have been removed.
What’s a bit odd is that just about all of the leaks have pointed to the larger Pixel 6 being named the “Pixel 6 Pro”. But this is the first mention of a Pixel 6 “XL”, and it’s coming from Google itself.
