Realme’s rumored MagDart charging gets put to the test in leaked video

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen teasers and leaks regarding Realme’s next flagship phone, the Realme Flash. In addition to being a spec powerhouse, the Flash is expected to introduce Android’s first true competitor to Apple’s MagSafe. The technology has been dubbed “MagDart” and offers “440% faster” charging than MagSafe. And ahead of its official unveiling, the folks over at XDA Developers have shared a charging test for this MagDart charger.

In the video, you can see that in about three minutes, the MagDart goes from 18-26%. Extrapolating this out, we’re expecting MagDart to easily provide a 100% charge in under an hour. Another image obtained by XDA shows that the charger delivers about 35W of power to the phone. However, since the Realme Flash is likely to make use of a dual-cell battery and to account for power lost to the “internal wired connection”, MagDart actually outputs around 50W charging speeds.

But the Realme Flash fun doesn’t stop there as @OnLeaks has again partnered with 91mobiles to give us a look at one of the upcoming MagDart accessories. Just like Apple’s MagSafe technology with the iPhone 12, MagDart opens the doors for many different accessories to add usefulness and functionality to the Realme Flash.

With this, we’re getting a look at the MagDart Wallet which magnetically attaches to the back of the phone and includes a built-in kickstand. The kickstand itself is made from aluminum, and can quickly prop up the Realme Flash. As for the wallet, you’ll be able to house three credit/debit/ID cards at the same time, allowing you to leave your traditional wallet behind.

Until now, we’ve only really seen Apple and Samsung successfully drive home the point of creating an ecosystem surrounded by your smartphone. OnePlus is continuing to make this push, and now we’re seeing other companies like Realme get in on the fun.

The Realme Flash is expected to make its debut at an event tomorrow, so we’ll have to wait until then to learn more. Previous rumors and speculation suggest that the Flash will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC, along with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage.
