When it comes to Android tablets priced above $300, the only good options come from Samsung. The Galaxy Tab S7 FE just launched in the U.S. with a mid-range chipset while maintaining the sleek design from the rest of the Tab S7 series. And speaking of the Galaxy Tab S7, that tablet is just over a year old as it arrived last August. And while Samsung tablets are pretty great, sometimes we want options and choices.
Thankfully, Lenovo may come to save the day as the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro appeared on the Google Play Console (via MySmartPrice). But instead of just being another budget or even mid-range tablet, according to the listings, the Tab P12 Pro will be a powerhouse. Lenovo is slated to include the Snapdragon 888 chipset paired with at least 8GB of RAM and sporting an OLED display.
The Tab P12 Pro will be running Android 11, which comes as no surprise, along with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1600. Unfortunately, we aren’t sure as to whether the tablet will be equipped with a fast refresh rate, or if Lenovo will stick to the standard of 60Hz.
Although the Tab P12 Pro has been certified through Google’s Play Console, that does not necessarily mean that a launch is imminent. Lenovo could just be going through the motions, biding its time to release a new tablet later in the year. Considering that we are due for a busy August, Lenovo definitely wouldn’t want this flagship beast to get lost amongst the chaos.
Perhaps with this new flagship tablet hitting the market, Samsung might feel a little bit of pressure to swing for the fences with the rumored Galaxy Tab S8 series. Some were expecting the Tab S8 to make an appearance at the upcoming Samsung Unpacked event next week. Unfortunately that won’t be the case, and the only other potential speculation is that Samsung could wait to release its next tablet alongside the Galaxy S22.
